Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday asked the Centre to take up with Nepal the issue of protecting and strengthening of the Kosi embankment to prevent floods in Bihar, adding that the Himalayan nation is not doing enough on that front.

“The Centre should immediately take up with Nepal the issue of strengthening and protecting the embankment in the wake of forceful stoppage of work in Nepal and digging of a pilot channel to re-establish the central flow of the river to avoid undue pressure on both the western and the eastern embankments,” Mr. Kumar told reporters in Patna on his return from Birpur in Supaul district. Read more
