Paschimbanga Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has directed the authorities concerned to investigate whether water of the Teesta River is being released into Bangladesh in a larger quantity. Irrigation Minister of the state Rajib Banerjee said the Chief Minister made an allegation at an administrative meeting that some employees of the Irrigation Department were unethically releasing additional water into Bangladesh side.
