On 20 October 2019 Cairo Water Week opened in Egypt on 20 October 2019. The President of World Water Council in his address  publicly restated their availability for hydro-diplomacy efforts. This emerging trend is quite disturbing as it will gradually take over the role of national governments in governance of trans-boundary waters. This is on the lines of gradual takeover of water supply systems by the water multinationals, after the WTO came in existence in 1995, as hundreds of water related works and services, including city water supply, were included in the WTO legislation. Hence there is an acute need to oppose such emerging anti-people trend and nip them in the bud, otherwise it will be too late to stop.
